How We Help Schools Improve Chronic Absenteeism
Count ME In provides resources and partners with schools seeking to address chronic absenteeism by using a comprehensive, data-driven approach. Over 40 Maine school districts have done intensive work with Count ME In; and additional school districts across the state have participated in individualized training activities. Those districts that have fully implemented the Count ME In model with fidelity have decreased their rates of chronic absenteeism by an average of 23%. This means more students are attending school, engaged in their learning and moving steadily along their educational pathway.
We provide a free 30 minute consultation to all Maine public schools to help you get started on your path to attendance improvement. For more information, complete an inquiry form.
School Specific Services to Support Student Attendance
Attendance Matters Monthly Coaching
Partner with us to develop protocol and practices that address root causes of chronic absenteeism in your community. We'll begin with a needs assessment and data review, provide professional development for staff and continue coaching to support implementation of the Count ME In Program throughout the school year. This service includes unlimited access to technical support for the duration of the contract as well as year-end evaluation and recommendations. Ongoing support is contracted for the year at a flat rate of $350 per month per school.

Additional Consulting & Technical Assistance
Attendance Matters Initial Audit: includes an Attendance Matters: The Basics professional development workshop to encourage shared understanding of chronic absenteeism in your district or school and offers an opportunity to reflect on current policies and practices. Follow-up with school leaders to plan 2-3 tangible next steps based upon your current attendance data. ($1500)
Attendance Matters Check-Up: A small group professional development workshop to review attendance data, revisit tiered interventions, and plan 2-3 tangible next steps, includes follow-up call ($500)
Attendance Matters Policies & Practices Audit: A review of staff reported policies and practices and written policies and procedures includes a summary of results and suggestions for improvement ($500)
Attendance Matters Evaluation: An analysis staff survey summarizing perceptions of attendance policies and practices. ($250)
Facilitated Focus Group: A 60 minute facilitated session with students or other community stakeholders to better understand engagement and attendance challenges, includes summary report and 3-5 practical suggestions. ($250)
Data Support: Analysis of current attendance data and development of a customized attendance tracking spreadsheet. ($500)
1:1 Coaching: Meet with Count ME In for technical support and resources ($50 per session) This is a great option for school leaders just starting attendance improvement work!
